Starting from 1st January 2018, NBC Universal is going to take full charge of DreamWorks Channel which is going to operate in South East Asia. Prior to this, HBO Asia was operating this unit.
This change in operation is similar to the acquisition that was carried out by NBC Universal in the year 2016. They had acquired DreamWorks Animation at that time. The transition is going to show some changes in marketing and sales affiliate in the beginning and then operations will also start changing. The Asian regional arm of NBCU International Networks and HBO Asia are based in Singapore.
MD of NBCUIN, Christine Fellowes said that the addition of DreamWorks Channel to their portfolio of multiple brands will act as a logical step towards their business in South East Asia. He also said that after they acquired DreamWorks Animations, they will now take over the entire oversight and become popular in the field of family and kids entertainment.
This channel which focuses largely on animation was launched in this region in the month of July 2015. It garners majority of views from South Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. It is fully dubbed and it is available in high definition also. It also has a dedicated wing called Dreamworks Junior which is a dedicated block for two to five year old children.
For children who are in the age range of six to eleven, TV series like Home Adventures with Tip and Oh, Dragons: race to the Edge, The Adventure of Puss in Boots, All Hail King Julien and Troll Hunters are being aired.
NBC has several reputed brands under them like Universal Channel, Studio Universal, Golf Channel, Style Network in Australia and NBC News and CNBC News internationally.
